If you’re not hooked on ACCTV’s ‘biggest family’ show – where have you been?!
Gil and Kelly Jo Bates and their tribe of 19 children (😱) (and now several spouses and growing brood of grandchildren) feature in ACCTV’s ‘Bringing Up Bates’ which you can watch weekdays at 10:30am or weekly on Monday nights at 7:00pm or watch anytime, anywhere on ACCTV NOW website and apps.
In a TV landscape where reality shows are now a constant, and frequently oh-so-trashy, it is refreshing to see one that just makes you smile! There’s no oohing or ahhing over nasty characters or cringe-worthy contrived romantic moments. No eww-ing over gross food challenges…simply good clean family fun. And there’s an awful lot of family!
In Season 1 of Bringing Up Bates we meet the Bates family, Dad Gil, Mum Kelly Jo and their children Zach, Michaella, Erin, Lawson, Nathan, Alyssa, Tori, Trace, Carlin, Josie, Katie, Jackson, Warden, Isaiah, Addellee, Ellie, Callie, Judson and Jeb! There’s also Zach’s wife Whitney, Erin’s husband Chad and Alyssa’s husband John.
During the first season, we journey with Zach and Whitney who are awaiting the birth of their first child. Michaella is courting and things are starting to get serious, Lawson is trying to kick-start his music career and Erin and Chad are hoping for some good news of their own.
Life With The Bates
Gil and Kelly Jo are raising their 19 children with love, humour, and Christian values teaching them to focus on others not self, and to serve the other members of the family. They all look out for each other. No matter the situation, the family faces it together and this is what makes Bringing up Bates so refreshing and engaging. You really grow to like this crazy bunch! Each episode is a new adventure – and let’s face it, with 19 kids even a trip to the op shop is an adventure – so we join the family on their camping trip, head to the shops for some new clothes, tag along on a group date, and of course, we’re right there for the birth of Grandbaby Number One! Faith references are gentle and natural but their love for God and their strong beliefs are evident.
I don’t know what’s in the future, but I know Who holds the future… and I’m looking forward to what He’s going to deliver. -Gil
Bringing up Bates really is a refreshing and heart-warming antidote to a world full of stress, angst and uncertainty. A little half-hour escape to small-town Tennessee.
