This New Year’s Eve, avoid the crowds and settle in for a night on the couch. We’ve got all the inspiration, encouragement and motivation you’ll need for a fantastic 2019 right here in our New Year’s Eve Movie Marathon.
Our night of movies begins at 7:30pm with I Believe, one for the whole family. I Believe tells the incredible story of nine year old Brian, who after a supernatural encounter with
God, sets off on an adventurous quest to ‘find out more about what Christians believe’. He faces heavy opposition from the world around him especially his own father Simon, an atheist TV newscaster. Brian finds allies in the pastor of a local church (Wilford Brimley) and a wounded US Marine (Jeremy London). Brian’s pure and innocent faith brings about manifestations of God’s extraordinary power that quickly become breaking news. Don’t miss out on this miracle packed adventure that shows that childlike faith is truly powerful!
Next at 9:00pm is Badge of Faith, the inspirational true story of Police Officer Bryan Lawrence. Whatever you think about police stories; think again. This film will make you laugh, will make you cry, and will make you stand up and cheer for the resilience of the human spirit.
Everyone loves Officer Bryan Lawrence. He helps ‘at-risk’ kids and raises money for great causes. He promises his future daughter-in-law he’ll walk her down the aisle since her own dad is out of the picture. Then it happened.
One night while chasing two suspects, Bryan is kicked in the face and instantly paralysed. Forced to depend on others for the simplest things, Bryan is determined to keep his promise to his son’s fiancé. The doctors say he’ll never walk again. Can his faith sustain him? This is an inspiring story of overcoming the greatest of challenges that shows that God can use any circumstance for His glory.
Lastly, at 10:30pm, something a little different. An incredibly beautiful cinematic retelling of the Prodigal Son story, The Heart of Man is a story inviting us to leave behind our broken, moralistic, and religious way of thinking and relating to God and to others. Once we begin to know who God is (and as a result who we are), we have something to invite the world into. Freedom from performance. Freedom from managing our behaviour so we appear acceptable to God. Freedom from our addictions, compulsive behaviours, secrecy and double lives. This film tears the veil of confusion over the church’s current identity crisis and enables it to invite the rest of the world to the banquet God is throwing all of us. The film features emotional interviews with real people going through their mess and subsequent healing, and includes expert witnesses of such men as William Paul Young, author of the NY Times best-selling novel The Shack, Dan Allender, PhD, author of The Wounded Heart and Spoken Word Artist Jackie Hill Perry.
This film has sparked a world-wide phenomenon of transformed lives, healed hearts and rebuilt relationships.
We hope you enjoy your 2018 NYE movie marathon and may we take this opportunity to wish you a very happy, healthy and blessed 2019 full of peace, joy and hope. Thank you so much for your support, and encouragement this past year.
